Loon mounts 18th SidlaKasilak Festival of Lights

SEARCH FOR LOON CAMPUS PERSONALITY 2017. Eight students from the different public and private schools of Loon are set to vie for the title of Loon Campus Personality 2017 at 8:00 p.m. tomorrow, Monday, September 4, 2017 at the new Mercado de Loon grounds in Cogon Norte, Loon, Bohol. All roads lead to Loon as the town’s fiesta ambiance is in the air to mark the countdown of the observance of the SidlaKasilak 2017 fiesta celebration and 18th Festival of Lights this coming September 7-8, 2017.

Loon Mayor Elvi Peter L. Relampagos, with Vice Mayor Lloyd Peter M. Lopez, MD and the members of the 13th Sangguniang Bayan, led the people of Loon in the celebration of this year’s fiesta activities which are held in honor of the town’s patroness, Our Lady of Light.

Bannering the theme: Katawhan nga bahandianon sa mga damgo’g kaantigo, Nag-amping nga makanunayon sa Loonanong garbo,” Loon’s fiesta calendar officially started on August 27, 2017 with the Food Bazaar hosted by the Loon Youth Sector. On August 29 was held the PYM Night sponsored by the Parish Youth Ministry held at the Loon Town Square grounds.

Last August 30, 2017 was held the Fun Run/Fun Walk at 5:00 a.m. coordinated by the Rural Health Units 1 & 2. The healthy lifestyle activity which started at the Mercado de Loon   culminated in the Zumbafest Hataw sa Kapistahan at the Loon Town Square grounds. In the evening was held the Women and Senior Citizens Night which featured the Lumad Napoanon dance troupe, the grand champion of the Bohol Sandugo streetdancing competition last July. The activity, held at the Mercado de Loon, was sponsored by the Kahugpongan sa Kababayen-ang Loonanon (KKL) and Loon Federated Senior Citizens Association.

On August 31 (Thursday), the Glam Gays of Loon and Office of the Mayor featured the super show, “Encantada sa Loon” held at the Mercado de Loon grounds. September 1, (Friday) was the Loon High Schools Night sponsored by the Junior and Senior High Schools of Loon and First Consolidated Bank also conducted at the Mercado de Loon grounds in Cogon Norte.

On September 2, at 9:00 a.m. the Inter-High Play-offs (Junior and Senior High Schools Sports Competition) was conducted at the Loon South Central Elementary School facilitated by the Loon Sports Committee. At 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon was the 2nd Juan M. Relampagos Dama Tournament hosted by the Loon Federated Senior Citizens Association and Heirs of Juan “Aning” Relamapgos. In the evening was the Dep-Ed Night of the Loon North and South Districts.

On September 3, ws the Food and Fruits Fair which featured the native, tasty  delicacies of Loon and myriad fruits galore starting at 7:00 o’clock in the morning. The food and fruits fest was facilitated by the Municipal Agriculture Office headed by municipal agriculturist, Trinita N. Suello.

At 9:00 a.m. was the Blessing, Inauguration and Turnover of the new Mercado de Loon in barangay Cogon Norte. The turnover ceremonies was graced by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) provincial director, Maria Loisella E. Lucino; Bohol officials led by Governor Edgar M. Chatto; Cong. Rene Lopez Relampagos; First District Board Members Venzencio Arcamo, Abeleon Damalerio and Ricky U. Masamayor; JEGMA Construction officials and other special guests led by Balilihan Mayor Pureza Veloso-Chatto, the governor’s spouse. They were welcomed by Mayor Elvi Peter L. Relampagos, members of the 13th Sangguniang Bayan, municipal department heads and employees, Loon barangay captains and Loon’s business community.

Later that evening was the battle of singing stars in the “Tawag ng Tanghalan sa Loon” presented by the Office of the Vice Mayor and 13th Sangguniang Bayan held at the Mercado de Loon grounds. The songfest was followed by the Hip-Hop Dance Competition at 10:00 in the evening sponsored by the Youth Sector and Office of the Mayor.

September 4, (Monday) at 8:00 PM is the Search for Loon Campus Personality 2017. Eight gorgeous students representing their respective public and private junior and senior high schools are set to compete for the title at the Mercado de Loon grounds. The beauty pageant is presented by LGU-Loon in cooperation with corporate sponsors with Wowie S. Agbon as program director and choreographer.

On September 5 (Tuesday) is the Dos Compañeros Jr. and Variety Show sponsored by the Liga ng mga Barangay and Business Sector.

On September 6 (Wednesday, 4:00 PM) is the traditional “Pagtagbo sa Kasilak,” from barangay Napo to the Kasilak Parish Church via Inang-angan. This will be facilitated by the Lumad Napoanon and Napo Barangay Council.  At 6:00 p.m. will be the Street Dance Offering led by Dep-Ed, KKL, and Poblacion barangays.

At 8:00 PM, right after the street dancing event, the Dance of Lights Competition will commence.

On the evening of September 7, vesper day, (Thursday, 8:00 p.m.), is the Fiesta Disco Extravaganza presented by the Office of the Mayor and corporate sponsors at the Mercado de Loon grounds.

On September 8, feast day (Friday, 8:00 p.m.), will be a Live Band Concert sponsored by Bohol First District Representative, Cong. Rene Lopez Relampagos.

On September 9, (Saturday, 7:00 p.m.) is scheduled the Voices of Bohol show to be presented by C & D Entertainment. This will be followed by the Fasttrack Family Showtime of the Fasttrack Dancers.

The Loon fiesta activities will be capped by the Loon Motocross Competition at the Cogon Norte Race Track on 9:00 a.m., Sunday, September 10, 2017. The bikefest showdown will be  presented by the Loon Racing Team.
