Loon Municipal Police Station Best Practice Program “Ako’y Molupyo ug Edukadong Loonanon (Kontra Droga, Terorismo ug Kriminalidad) strikes again at Barangay Badbad Occidental, Loon, Bohol

On July 9, 2023, the PNP personnel of Loon Police Station led by PCPT VICTOR P TAGSA, JR-Chief of Police (OIC), with the team composed of PCMS Emerito T Paulinio, PSMS Leonora M Molina, and PCpl Cherryl Ivy F Ermela, conducted barangay visitation and series of lecture/symposium under the “Ako’y Molupyo ug Edukadong Loonanon” (A.M.E.L.) Program with the coordination of the Barangay Officials of Barangay Badbad Occidental, Loon, Bohol, headed by Punong Barangay, Valerio C. Sombrio.

During the event, the Team Loon Pulis GOOD COPS conducted information drive against drugs and criminality. PSMS Leonora M Molina discussed about the awareness campaign of the ill effects of illegal drugs and the punishable acts and penalties under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 while PCpl Cherryl Ivy F Ermela discussed the topic on the salient features of the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children (R.A. 9262) and the Anti-Rape law (R.A. 8353).

In line with the DILG program dubbed as “BIDA” (Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan), the intensified campaign against illegal drugs through the drug demand reduction program of the government was given emphasis to the said activity to help combat the menace of the illegal drugs in the country. The all-out awareness against gender-based violence and sexual abuse is also one of the key factors that will greatly contribute in the prevention and solution of related crimes.

The concept of the Ako’y Molupyo ug Edukadong Loonanon (A.M.E.L.) Program revolves on the series of lecture/symposium educating the public or community through the conduct of information drive on laws and ordinances which were deemed helpful on their daily lives. Topics were seriously considered for the purpose of helping in educating the target audience. These activity aims on the support of the community in joining the PNP in the fight against illegal drugs, terrorism and criminality to attain and maintain a safe, peaceful and progressive Loon.

Before the lecture proper, Punong Barangay Sombrio, gave his welcome remarks and followed by a message from the SK Chairperson, Cres Andy S. Rubilla in which both barangay officials expressed his gratitude to the members of the PNP Loon for sharing their valuable time and knowledge that will greatly help in guiding the youth and residents towards a better future and encouraged the participants to inculcate the learnings that was shared by the lecturers. Barangay Kagawad, Fe S. Bulilawa, VAWC Desk Focal Person of the said barangay, also expressed her appreciation to the lecturers right after the lecture proper in which the topics were very helpful especially in her task in the barangay as well as her being a parent of a teenager that are deemed vulnerable to those criminal activities.

IEC materials were also distributed that includes the ill effects of illegal drugs and the salient features of the anti-rape law and the anti-violence against women and their children that includes hotline numbers of Loon MPS for easier access on complaint reporting.

Lastly, the said program was in line with the 5-Focused Agenda of the Chief PNP PGEN BENJAMIN C ACORDA, JR, particularly on Community Engagement which puts primary significance on public participation and involvement to realize sustainable peace, safety and progress for the country.
